Your vote counts once a year but your voice counts every day...
Welcome to VoterSpeak

Participating in Democracy was easy in the 8th grade, when we all had to write a letter to our congressman person, but these days, who has the time? Do we even know who is respresenting us at the local or state level? And if we did, would they listen?

Still, you have an opinion and it does count. We remember that from school: everyone has a voice and everyone has a vote. What we forgot was that we should use both: the voice and the vote. That's where VoterSpeak comes in...

VoterSpeak is your chance to share your opinion with your elected official, to let him or her know what you are concerned about, to give your input into the way things are going. Instead of letting the newspapers and TV reports tell us what to worry about or wait for someone else to get you to join their cause, why not spend 5 minutes on a website and tell your side of the story? More importantly, to tell the elected officials what's important to you (instead of the other way around). Its worth five minutes to help them focus on whats counts, isn't it?

VoterSpeak allows you to choose from a list of issues (or add your own) and with a few mouse clicks, draft a letter voicing your opinion to your representative. Edit it if you like, then choose to email it, print it out for faxing (including the coversheet) or print it out as a letter for you to mail in. We'll even provide the address, proper formatting and spellchecking! All you have to do is give your opinion.

Your vote counts once a year but your voice counts every day...at VoterSpeak

...This was the original idea behind VoterSpeak, started in the first few weeks of 2004. The initial idea was to develop a system to make it easier for citizens (voting or otherwise) to send letters (physical US Mail, faxes, etc.) to their representatives. This effort still on-going but it is taking longer (read: more money) than expected. In the meantime, however, we've had elections in the United States and Iraq -- The world is moving on. And so is the VoterSpeak idea and, thus, so are we. We've opened the forums, we're encouraging the dialog and, while everyone is talking, we'll continue developing. Watch the Works in Progress section to see how we're doing....
